Frequently asked questions

Everything about neep — how it works, what it runs on, pricing and privacy. Still stuck? Contact us.

What is neep, and how does it work exactly? +

neep is an AI-based software application designed to remove distracting background noise when you’re on computer-based voice and video calls. It focuses on your voice, reduces the sounds around you, and gives your callers a clearer audio experience.

Why would I use neep? +

Noise reduces productivity and is distracting to everyone on a call. neep gives you and your callers a cleaner, more focused calling experience, so you get more done and cut out the annoyance of background noise.

Can neep remove the noise in my caller’s background too? +

Yes. neep reduces unwanted sound in your background and in your caller’s background as well — both ends of the call.

What are the hardware requirements for the best results? +

neep works on Windows, Mac, and Linux computers, including Windows-on-ARM (Snapdragon) and Apple Silicon (M-series) machines — neep built its ARM support with Qualcomm for the Snapdragon chips in newer AI laptops. neep does not currently run on mobile phones (iPhone or Android) or Chromebooks. Minimum specs:

Windows: Windows 10 (version 1809) or above; CPU: Intel 5th-gen Core i3 (Broadwell, 2014 or later) or AMD Steamroller @2.0 GHz; Disk: 500 MB free; RAM: 4 GB (8 GB recommended).
Mac: macOS 10.15 Catalina or above; CPU: Intel 5th-gen Core i3 (2014 or later), or Apple M1/M2; Disk: 800 MB free; RAM: 4 GB (8 GB recommended).
Linux: Ubuntu 20.04 / Debian 10 / Fedora 37; CPU: Intel 5th-gen Core i3 (2014 or later) or AMD Steamroller @2.0 GHz; RAM: 4 GB (8 GB recommended).

What applications can neep be used with? +

You can use neep with popular voice and video apps such as Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, RingCentral, Zoom, Slack, Discord, Loom, and OBS — and more. Basically, anywhere you can select your microphone or speaker device, you can use neep. These are examples, not limits.

Can I also use neep to enhance the sound of my audio recordings? +

Yes. Beyond live calls, neep can clean up and enhance recorded audio files, giving you professional-quality results on your audio projects without needing separate software.

Can I use neep with my mobile phone or tablet? +

No. neep is designed for computers, not mobile phones or tablets.

What does the Register My Voice feature do? +

It records your voice so neep can identify and isolate it from other voices. That means neep keeps your voice clear and front-and-center while reducing other people’s voices in your background — something most noise tools struggle with.

How much does neep cost? +

neep is $12 per user per month, or $9 per user per month billed annually. You can start with a 14-day free trial — no credit card required. There’s no free-forever plan; the trial is the free option. See full details on the pricing page.

Can I try neep before deciding to buy it? +

Yes. neep comes with a 14-day free trial so you can decide if it’s right for you, no credit card required. Sign up for your free trial here.

What kinds of noise does neep remove from the background? +

On calls you might deal with noisy coworkers, equipment sounds, and traffic, or — for remote workers — babies crying, pets, or cafe noise. neep helps dramatically reduce these sounds and more.

Besides typical background noise, can neep also remove voices? +

Yes. neep reduces other people’s background voices while enhancing your own, so your caller hears you clearly and not the people around you.

I’m comparing neep to Krisp. How is neep different? +

Both are strong noise-cancellation tools and similar in price, but a few things set neep apart. First, versatility: neep runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux (including ARM), so it fits more setups. Second, voice registration: neep learns your voice and isolates it from other human voices nearby — the differentiator most tools struggle with. Third, audio-file cleanup: you can use neep to remove noise from recorded meetings and podcasts, not just live calls. And finally, support: neep comes with U.S.-based support by phone, email, text, and live chat, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. PST, from our team in Northern California.

Is neep secure, and does it collect my personal information? +

You can read about neep’s security and privacy on our site. All audio processing happens locally on your own machine — your calls aren’t sent to or stored on a server. The only cloud connection is for login and licensing.

How does neep enhance my voice? +

neep enhances your voice quality and volume, so you come across loud, clear, confident, and consistent.

Does neep support stereo audio? +

Yes — neep delivers HD stereo voice for clear, high-quality sound.

What advantage does neep provide for recorded meetings, podcasts, or other audio projects? +

Three things. neep works for both your live calls and your recorded files, so it’s more versatile. Its AI filters noise automatically, so you don’t have to fiddle with presets. And it works locally on your machine — no uploading files to a third-party server — for better privacy.

What would my callers like best about neep? +

neep removes noise from both ends of the call, so your callers hear you and not your background — and you hear them without their background noise. It also isolates your voice from others and enhances your clarity and volume, so you’re easier to hear.

Will I sound better to my callers if I use neep? +

Yes. neep restores the audio signal to make your voice sound crisper and more natural.

Will neep alone handle both my live calls and my recorded audio files, or do I need a separate app? +

neep alone handles both. You won’t need a separate app to remove noise from your recordings — neep cleans your live calls and your audio files.

Can I control how much noise neep removes? +

Yes. You can throttle the amount of noise reduction for both your microphone and speakers, and toggle HD voice and echo cancellation — so you stay in control of your audio.

How do I cancel my neep subscription? +
